Project: arabeska - Office Areas of Swiss Re
Description:

With the completion of the new construction 'arabeska' in 2015, Munich´s HVB-Tower acquired an unusual new neighbour. Following a construction period of of three years, this multi-purpose building now features flowing shapes, light-flooded liberality and ornamentations of Arabian architecture, which lend the building its name. The facility consists of a main building and an adjoining structure. The ground floor of the main building is composed of a large-scale central atrium surrounded by event and conference areas and a restaurant. The upper floors are designed for housing office spaces. As to the adjoining structure, a training and conference center of a household appliances manufacturer has been established in these premises.

The levels 4 and 5 of this six-storey building house the office areas of Swiss Re, one of the largest insurance companies in the world. A flexible concept has been established in these open-plan offices, allowing each employee to choose his workplace according to individual daily requirements, from separated individual workplaces to teamwork environments. Similarly to the other office areas in the building´s upper floors, areas rented by Swiss Re have been completely fitted with NORTEC raised floor systems and carpet coating. Apart from functional aspects such as full accessibility of the floor void, this system is also beneficial to the acoustics and appearance of these environments.

The extensive main building of the arabeska-complex comes with an inner courtyard that is bridged by a connection on the upper levels. In order to maintain temperature in this connection, hollow floors with integrated heating technology of type CAVOPEX comfort have been installed.
