Description

Project: Gardermoen Airport - Unsö Extension
Description:

Gardermoen Airport near Oslo was recently expanded to include an area for non-Schengen destinations: The so-called Unsö extension is a 190 m long, four-storey building with an area of 25,000 m².

Particularly impressive about the new airport area is the customised façade with vertical elements and glass surfaces that slope inwards and outwards to form a vertical wave pattern. Lindner Scandinavia realised the LS 3000 Composite element façade with a thickness of 600 mm and corrugated glass levels – including engineering, production and installation of all façade-related components. The hybrid composite/aluminium façade consists of 2.5 x 6 m elements and 30 % of it was executed as a custom-made EW30 fire protection system. The Lindner Scandinavia project team designed and tested the system themselves with a verified result at the fire testing facility in Trondheim. The ongoing operation of the airport made the construction work even more difficult – despite all this, the airport extension now shines in a modern and unusual façade system.
