| Description: | From the new Wien Kanal headquarters, around 240 employees take care of the approximately 2,500 km long sewer system of the City of Vienna. The shape of the new building invites associations with intersecting canals, but is primarily due to the site area and industrial surroundings. The Pichler & Traupmann team of architects deliberately wanted to create a counterpart to the otherwise frontally oriented rows of buildings. In addition, the aim here was to create as much green open space as possible. Furthermore, the X is the optimal building form in terms of visual axes and short distances, as well as flexibility and reversibility of the new working worlds. On behalf of the family Handler, Lindner GmbH, as the general contractor for the interior work, was not only responsible for the dry construction, but also supplied and installed double and hollow floor systems with various top coverings. On the ground floor, for example, a heavy-duty floor with Italian stone application was chosen; real wood parquet or linoleum can also be found in the various rooms, while in the sanitary rooms the floor systems were used in hydro design. In order to improve the acoustics of the office areas, Lindner installed 2,500 baffle ceilings. Individual offices were separated by Life pure glass partitions including matching doors. |
