Description

Project: Cinedom Cologne
Description:

The cinema Cinedom in Cologne was opened in 1991 and is the fifth largest cinema in Germany with over 3,000 seats and 14 screens. The Cinedom is a so called multiplex cinema, which is located in the MediaPark in the district Neustadt-Nord in Cologne. The building complex of the MediaPark is connected by numerous pedestrian walkways and the buildings are semicircularly arranged around a central place. A renewed and uniform colour concept, which mainly consists of warm grey shades and glossy elements, contributes to a modern and elegant look of the cinema. Lindner was involved in the interior fit-out works of the Cinedom and thus contributed to the improved quality of stay in the foyer. The focus was on the floor design, whereby a covering of parquet in light wood look and a complementary dark grey structured carpet was used. The dome, which is around 35 meters high, has also been upgraded with a new painting. The architect's motto "More Glamor" was implemented in particular by foiling escalators and ceiling edges in warm gold tones as well as by installing metal slats that appear in a "gold look" along the facade, which also serve as sun protection. As a special highlight, the canopy of the entrance area was upgraded with a mirrored soffit. Furthermore, all sanitary facilities were completely gutted, rebuilt and optically adapted to the overall concept of the renovation.
